About Us

Instantly compare personal health insurance plans. Save time.

Close more health insurance business.

CompareHealth is an online platform that makes quoting and comparing personal health insurance plans easy for advisors in Canada.

Whether your client is self-employed, recently left a group benefits plan, prefers no medical questionnaires, or health plans that cover specific benefits and paramedical practitioners, CompareHealth will quote and compare the eligible plans without the headaches and potential errors from manual searches, comparisons and rate calculations.

CompareHealth currently supports 92 health plans and 214 plan design combinations from 12 health insurance providers across 9 provinces.

Don't offer all health plans that CompareHealth shows? No problem! You can choose the provinces and providers you support.

problems

  • Health plan designs and costs are difficult to compare as each provider highlights its plans and benefits differently

  • Certain paramedicals like massage, dietitian etc. are not offered on all plans

  • Some plans have optional benefits that are already included in other plans

  • Some plans are only available to client’s leaving a group benefits plan

Benefits

Save Time

Generate instant comparisons of your client's eligible health plans with the optional benefits that reflect their choices to help you close more business. Shortlist the plans clients want and export comparisons to PDF or Excel.

Apples-to-Apples

Compare the key details for the popular benefits your clients want most, like prescription drugs, vision, paramedical practitioners, travel and dental. See what health plans offer the benefits and practitioners your clients want.

Sort & Filter

Complete a 'Yes/No' questionnaire to show health plans that match your client's desired benefits, paramedical practitioners and budget. Filter out plans that require a medical questionnaire and only show the providers and provinces you support.

Replacement Health Plans

Some health plans are only available to clients leaving their group benefits plan. CompareHealth will automatically calculate and compare these health plans if your client falls within its eligible timeframe.

Province-Specific

Rates, health plans, plan designs, optional benefits, eligible ages, and how a plan's 'year' is defined may vary between provinces, so you will only see the relevant information for your client.

Design Combinations

When health plans offer multiple optional benefits, the number of plan design combinations can become overwhelming. Only see plan designs relevant to your client's preferences to keep things simple.

Be Compliant

Finding suitable health plans based on clients' needs helps you comply with the 'needs-based sales practices' regulatory requirements of the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association (CLHIA).

Reinforce Your Value

Build your client's confidence by demonstrating due diligence in finding the right health plan for their needs with the benefits and paramedical practitioners they want most.

FAQs

CompareHealth compares 92 health plans from 12 health insurance providers across 9 provinces (excludes Quebec, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut).

Currently, CompareHealth compares health plans from these providers:

  • Canada Life
  • Green Shield Canada (GSC)
  • Group Medical Services (GMS)
  • Manulife (excludes 'stand-alone' plans)
  • Manitoba Blue Cross (excluding no-dental options)
  • Blue Cross Health (Ontario & Atlantic Canada). Excludes individual dental coverage and 'Assured Access' where offered
  • Pacific Blue Cross (excluding Group Dental Add-On)
  • Saskatchewan Blue Cross
  • Special Benefits Insurance Services (SBIS)
  • Sun Life Financial
  • The EDGE Benefits
  • Victor Insurance

Clients do not typically choose a health plan for benefits like casts, crutches and certain medical supplies. For this reason, CompareHealth does not compare benefits like these.

Instead, CompareHealth asks 'Yes/No' questions for health benefits clients foresee spending money on, like prescription drugs, vision, paramedical practitioners, travel, and dental.

CompareHealth does not currently support pricing and comparing stand-alone plans for hospital or 'catastrophic' coverages.

Before recommending any health plans, advisors should visit the provider's website to review all health plan details.

The client questionnaire asks a series of 'Yes/No' questions for benefits like:

  • Prescription drugs, including drug coverage for pre-existing conditions
  • Vision
  • Separate questions for 15 paramedical practitioners, including massage therapists, dietitians, chiropractors, physiotherapists (etc.) and mental health practitioners like psychologists and social workers
  • Out-of-Canada travel, including a client's average trip duration
  • Separate questions for basic dental, major dental & orthodontics
  • Hearing aids
  • Ambulance
  • Client budget (enter maximum $ amount)

CompareHealth shows health plans and applicable monthly rates for the following provinces:

  • British Columbia
  • Alberta*
  • Saskatchewan
  • Manitoba
  • Nova Scotia
  • New Brunswick
  • Newfoundland and Labrador
  • Ontario
  • Prince Edward Island

*Blue Cross is not yet available for this province with CompareHealth

CompareHealth supports health plan quotes for up to six people: the client, their spouse and up to four dependents*.

*CompareHealth only quotes and compares health plans when all dependents meet that provider's definition of 'dependent'. Health plans typically cover dependents under age 25 if they are full-time students, but definitions can vary between providers. In some unique situations, a provider's definition of 'dependent' may also cover over-age dependents or over-age dependents with disabilities. CompareHealth does not provide quotes for these unique situations.

When you create a new quote, you must enter at least the client's province, date of birth and sex. After you generate results, CompareHealth locks this information and assigns a unique Quote ID.

However, you can access this Quote ID in your account and change any other details for 60 days, such as:

  • Spouse and Dependent(s) Details
  • Date leaving a group benefits plan, if any
  • All plan preferences (drugs, vision, paramedical, dental etc.)

These changes do not count toward your remaining Quote IDs.

Please note that a 'Generated Quote' refers to modifications made to a Quote ID (except for the locked parameters).

60 days. After 60 days, the Quote ID expires and will be removed from your account.

You can modify all details in the Quote ID except the client’s province, date of birth and sex.

Please note that a 'Generated Quote' refers to modifications made to a Quote ID (except for the locked parameters).

Applying for coverage must be completed through the provider’s website. CompareHealth does not sell, recommend, or endorse health plans.

Please view CompareHealth's Terms of Use for specific details.

Advisors can upgrade their accounts anytime, which will instantly provide additional Quote IDs.
